Im a retired phone operator. Ive had many a company or persons try to abuse our phones, cells. Land lines, voiP, and now cell phones are spammed and the caller WANTS You to pay it. Dont answer. If You see it, Hang them up. Any bullcrap they tell you its a way to build rapport and get Your info. Its your Choice to answer or Not!
the reason you only get 1 voice mail a day is because in several states it is a violation of collection laws to leave more than one message per day. due to the automated system calling all states, it is easier to abide by that rule for everyone than differentiate callers. Even if you answer accidently and hang up, it is considered a contact for that 24 hr period. it is an automated system that is set up to call certain number sequences for specific days, repeatedly. i do agree that the best decision is to call customer service from your phone to make any sort of payments or do so at their website. however, remember that by making payment arrangements, it does not remove your number from the automated list, not having any past due balance does. if you are receiving calls and have never had att and/or are current with your bill, you have to ask them to remove your number from the automated call list. due to the hundreds of thousands of people who get a phone, run up bill, dont pay, and move to next company, it is impossible to keep the automated system current. your number may have been from a previous past due customer or simply used as a reference secondary number by someone intending to not pay and merely pulled your number out of thin air.
